Tropical Berlin Gallery is pleased to announce our collaboration with musician William J. Canning. The exhibition coincides with the release of his second album “The Heavens Laugh Along With Us”, opening on April 12th at 7pm and on view until May 9th, 2025. William J. Canning’s electronic compositions explore nostalgia, fate, and familiarity of place. Recorded over the course of 2024 in Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Melbourne, “The Heavens Laugh Along With Us” is a focused distillation of Canning’s sonic world and influences. For this exhibition, Canning has prepared a suite of video and sculptural works that spring forth from the album’s visual world. “World For Sale (1-4)” features photographs of signs obsessively taken around Los Angeles. These have been rearranged by poet Joey Camello, and screen printed on large sheets of steel. “Returning Loop” is a continuous single-channel video of LAX’s Airplane Landing View Point. “The Heavens Laugh Along With Us” is on show at Tropical Berlin Gallery from April 12th to May 9th, 2025.
