Lucy Mu Li’s artwork invites deep contemplation. Referencing water, stone, clouds, and the rhythms of life, her work speaks quietly but clearly to those listening. She Went for a Swim reflects Li’s interest in the liminal space of a shoreline, between earth and water. The work rests on a practice of devotion and ritual repetition. Her paintings use flashe acrylic for its matte quality in contrast to ink and iridescent watercolors which reflect light differently depending on the angle and light source, creating patterns in search of a universal language and waves that stretch out against time. Li lives and works in north county San Diego and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Dartmouth College. She has participated in national and international residencies and has been exhibited and featured by The Other Art Fair, Visionary Projects, and Bobblehaus Gallery NYC.
