Heaven and Hell

Ends Feb 14, 2020
Artists Seth Bogart and Jess Scott have collected a genre-spanning group of artists selected for their individual unlocking of eternal desires in Heaven and Hell. The exhibition will be on display throughout TOM House, where the gathered works will revel in Tom of Finland’s erotically charged spectrum of good and bad, positive and negative, the unearthly and the all-too carnal. Scott and Bogart were inspired by a comic panel by Tom depicting two men boarding a metro train bound for “Hell – Heaven”. The destination was a twinning of oppo – pleasure and pain, camaraderie and isolation, truth and disguise, and a total disassembling of the binary itself. Highlights of the exhibition include revered British artist Linder’s delicate photomontages, the iconic lesbian dreamworld of G.B. Jones, the skateboard-as-queer-totem from Jeffrey Cheung, the lush subterranean pornography of filmmaker Bruce LaBruce, and so many more stunning works to enthrall visitors in the home of Tom of Finland. ARTISTS: Linder, G.B. Jones, Tabboo!, Louis Fratino, Dean Sameshima, Patrick Staff, Bruce LaBruce, Matt Connors, Jeffrey Cheung, Martin Sorrondeguy, Frederick Weston, Heather Benjamin, Rafa Esparza, Brontez Purnell, Matt Lifson, Nickolaus Typaldos, Aimee Goguen, Radiguez, Kim Coleman. On view through 13th February by appointment, closing event 14th February 6-9p.
